The leading wine is Barbera
d'Asti, with its unique character and the features of the great
international grape varieties. Another typical grape variety of this region
is Moscato bianco. The ancient method of grape over-ripening, once used in
canelli and nowadays almost forgotten, has been rediscovered for the making
of the "passito", an excellent wine "for thought". The choice of the
Sauvignon variety has proven successful, since it exploits the
characteristics of the "white soils" of Calamandrana at best. The estate
current production approximates 55,000 bottles a year.
